Fixed Layout and Fixed Layout Read-Aloud Formats
For highly illustrated books such as reference books and children’s picture books, we create precise “fixed layout” formats to produce beautiful, full page, full-bleed, illustrated eBooks that retain printed page fidelity.
The fixed layout ePub3 format will support the following features
Audio synchronization with text highlighting feature (read along). This feature will work on all Apple devices and Kobo devices. The same file will work fine on all Android eReaders and smartphones irrespective of their make (Sony, Samsung, Lenovo, etc.). So the users simply need to install the PlayBooks app on their Android device in order to read the ePub file.
The fixed layout Mobipocket (KF8) format
This format is meant for Amazon’s Kindle devices. Currently Kindle does not support any interactivity or multimedia such as audio/video.
The fixed layout Nook Kids format
This format is Barnes & Noble’s proprietary format for the Kids category only. This format also supports audio (read along feature) without text highlighting.
